I use a zinc plate covered in a ground of beeswax & tarseal. I draw through the ground with a fine needle to expose the metal underneath. Then its placed in a bath of nitric acid, the acid bites in to the plate & creates incisions that hold ink…. more drawing & multiple layers of fine cross hatching & tiny dots, slowly build up the tone, then its ready for inking & printing in my press. I print a limited number of etchings & each print is slightly unique to the next.
